Futbolito Pacoima
Futbolito is a fast paced version of soccer played with 5 man teams on a basketball sized court with smaller goalposts and a smaller, heavier soccer ball.
“It’s hard to live around here because there’s a lot of gangs. I see them when I walk to school. But I stay away from those things. Futbolito keeps us out of trouble.” – David, 16 years old
This soccer program in which youth ages 11 to 16 are able to compete on a weekly basis has served over 640 youth since 2006 and recruits over 80 new at-risk youth each season. Through consistent practice, youth improve their physical health and participate in competitive sports during times when they are most at risk to be involved in juvenile gang activity and violence. Futbolito Pacoima is a positive and safe alternative for youth, a first step in drug, gang and other at-risk behavior prevention.
